Kindle Customers, We have heard from many of you that you would like to have a better way to organize your growing Kindle libraries. We are currently working on a solution that will allow you to organize your Kindle libraries. We will be releasing this functionality as an over-the-air software update as soon as it is ready, in the first half of next year. - The Kindle TeamUpdate: Some people on the Amazon Kindle forums are reporting this is a "scam" (the correct word they are looking for is "hoax"). However, you can see the same message yourself, starting from the Amazon twitter feeds page here: tinyurl.com/AmznTwts. Go to the Kindlereads feed - the announcement is there, as is a link to the Kindle Facebook page.
Also, finally an official annoucement in the Amazon forums (but no reply to question about the original Kindle there...)

Wow. something us Kindle owners have been clamoring for for a LONG time. Can't wait!
And it is about time, too. :-)
That is apparently not the authorized Kindle FB page. See Amazon Discussion thread:

Just heard this was a "Fake" Facebook account and it is a hoax.
Well, the only thing I've ever done was become a fan of the Kindle on Facebook. I didn't join any pages, etc. I thought announcements could only come from Amazon. Well, it would be nice, but it not, oh well.
Except there was a response within a community topic that seemed to come from customer service late tonight that suggests its true.
Bottom line is, Amazon REALLY needs to get an official blog where they can release information. I'm horribly confused atm and I'm sure many others are too.
The page does look legit. Other posts there have been accurate about new releases (Kindle for PC, for example) and there are no affiliate links. Amazon also has a habit of shutting down any site using their trademarks (Kindle and Amazon) in their site names. It may be a hoax (but then, why say it will be next year for the update?).
I hope it is true and that those with Original Kindles will be able to use the "fix". Hopefully, they will fully implement tags, which the format already supports, rather than a more limited "folder" solution that relies on physical locations. I want to add and search/view multiple tags per book, not just one -- a book may be Unread, Fantasy and Romance and I want to easily find them using any one of the tags. With folders, I'd have to choose (or have folders within folders).
While they are doing that, I hope they can also put some type of password/code on books to child proof certain books if parents are sharing the same account with kids! That would fantastic!
Definitely not a scam (how would such a "scam" work, since there is no money to be made from a site with pure announcements? Hoax maybe, scam never).

From the Kindlereads feed, see the same announcement and a link to the same facebook page.
Karen, thanks for clarifying! Sounds like it's legitimate info after all! :)
I *love* your blog!!
